We listen to understand what you need — then we help you get there.
Every business owner carries a different set of concerns — different history, different environment, different pressures. Our goal is to listen to and understand your background and unique situation before we offer anything. We don't start with conclusions. We start with you.
If you run an independent pharmacy, cannabis dispensary, or retail property, your security environment is genuinely different from a large corporate operation — and most of the advice available to you is designed for someone else.
Controlled substances, public-facing staff, DEA compliance exposure, and the constant reality that your inventory makes you a target. Most of the people offering to help are either selling equipment or using the assessment to pitch guard services.
All-cash operations under strict regulatory scrutiny, with high-value product and elevated robbery risk. Objective, vendor-neutral expertise is genuinely hard to find. Most consultants in this space have something to sell you on the other end.
Multi-tenant retail in high-risk areas carries liability exposure that doesn't always appear until something happens. Foreseeability is a legal standard — and the documentation that supports your position doesn't build itself.
"If any of this sounds familiar — or if your situation doesn't fit neatly into one of these categories — that's exactly why the first conversation matters. We'd rather understand your specific concerns than assume we already know what they are."— Sentinel Risk Group
We focus on independent businesses in high-risk environments that need objective expertise. We listen and observe, then we assist as partners.
We come in fresh every time. What we find in your specific operation — your layout, your people, your history — is what drives our assessment. Not a template, not a checklist, not a product we're trying to fit you into.
Our goal isn't a transaction. It's a working relationship where you come away more capable of managing your own risk — whether that means a single assessment, hands-on training, or ongoing support as your situation evolves.
We don't sell equipment, cameras, alarms, or guard services. That means our recommendations reflect what actually helps you. No commission, no referral arrangement, no conflict.
Let's have a conversation about what's on your mind — and whether we're the right fit to help.
Sentinel Risk Group was built by people who spent careers responding to what happens when security fails — not reading about it, not consulting from a distance, but showing up in person when things went wrong. We started this business because independent business owners deserve honest expertise.
We want independent business owners to feel genuinely in control of their own security — not dependent on a vendor relationship, not guessing, not just hoping nothing happens. That means teaching people how to see risk clearly, not just handing them a report and walking out the door.
The security consulting market has a structural problem: most of the people offering assessments are really selling something else. Guard contracts. Camera systems. Alarm monitoring. That makes their advice compromised by design. We built this business to be the version that isn't.
"We spent decades responding to the consequences of security failures. Every fire, every robbery, every incident we responded to had a chain of decisions — or non-decisions — that made it worse than it had to be. This business exists because we'd rather help people avoid that chain than show up after it plays out."— Sentinel Risk Group Founding Partners
Our founding team isn't built on certifications and coursework. It's built on careers spent in the field, making decisions with real consequences.
Spent 20 years as a firefighter and fire captain, retiring in 2025. Responded to commercial incidents across the city — pharmacy robberies, retail break-ins, industrial accidents, mass casualty events. Also served as Assistant Fire Marshal, analyzing operational data and developing risk-based decision frameworks across the organization. His career was built on rapidly assessing risk under high-consequence, life-threatening conditions and managing those risks as incident commander — making critical decisions with incomplete information, under pressure, with lives on the line.
Retired police officer with 20+ years of law enforcement experience and U.S. Army Counterintelligence Agent. Applies military threat assessment methodology to commercial environments with deep expertise in threat identification, access control, and behavioral pattern recognition. Brings extensive fraud investigation experience to internal theft, employee diversion, and financial exposure assessments. Understands how vulnerabilities are identified and exploited by people who are looking for them.
These aren't marketing statements. They're the operating principles that determine how we behave when you're not in the room.
We tell clients what we actually find, even when it's not what they were hoping to hear. A report that validates everything you're already doing isn't worth paying for. Our value is in telling you the truth.
What you tell us and what we observe in your business stays with us. Strictly. We operate under binding confidentiality terms and professional liability insurance. Your vulnerabilities are not public information.
Our goal isn't for you to need us forever. We want you to understand your own risk environment well enough to manage it — which means we explain our reasoning, not just our conclusions. An educated person is a safer person.
Every engagement starts the same way: we listen. What comes after depends entirely on what we hear — and what you actually need.
This isn't a fixed menu of services. It's a relationship that starts with a conversation and develops based on what's actually useful to you.
Before we propose anything, we want to understand your situation. What's prompted you to reach out — a recent incident, a nagging concern, regulatory pressure, an upcoming insurance review, or just a sense that something isn't right. There's no agenda on our end. We're listening.
This first conversation is free, no obligation, and genuinely just a conversation. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you that too.
If an on-site assessment makes sense, we come to you. We look at your specific environment — layout, access controls, staff procedures, coverage gaps, and the operational patterns that create exposure. We'll describe what we are assessing and why, before we begin.
If your goal is to manage your own security going forward — without a permanent consulting relationship — we can build that. We work directly with you and your staff, making sure the people in the building understand what to do and why, not just what the policy says.
The goal is for you not to need us. That's a successful outcome.
Risk environments change. Staff turns over. Neighborhoods shift. Regulations update. If you want someone to think through new situations with you as they arise — without commissioning a full assessment every time — that's a relationship we're available for.
Objectivity isn't just a word we use. It's a structural commitment — built into how we operate.
We have no financial relationship with any alarm company, camera manufacturer, safe vendor, or security equipment supplier. We will never recommend a product from which we benefit.
We are not affiliated with any security guard company. If your assessment indicates you need guards, we will tell you what to look for — not hand you a referral that benefits us.
Everything you share with us stays strictly confidential. We carry professional liability insurance and operate under binding confidentiality terms on every engagement.
That's the right starting point. Tell us what's on your mind and we'll have an honest conversation about whether and how we can help.
We're not going to ask you to describe your vulnerabilities before we've met. Just tell us who you are, what kind of business you run, and what's prompting the call. We'll take it from there.
Your information is confidential. What you share with us — your contact information, the details of your situation, anything you tell us in the course of a conversation — stays with us. We don't share client information with anyone without written consent.
No obligation. The first conversation is just a conversation. We'll tell you honestly whether what you're dealing with is something we can help with, and what that might look like.
